After Sadiq Khan’s pledge to review the proposed Kings Road station, Caroline Pidgeon the Lib Dem candidate for London Mayor has written to No Crossrail in Chelsea:

“Let me reassure you that I do understand your concerns regarding the proposed Crossrail 2 station on the King’s Road.  The consultation result did show an overwhelming level of opposition to having a station in the area and it would be very wrong to ignore such a clear expression of public opinion. To do so would call into question the value of holding a consultation exercise and undermine the legitimacy of the scheme. So I am calling for the proposals for the King’s Road to be reviewed in the light of the objections and comments from local residents and organisations.”

We would like to thank Caroline for these comments which will echo what many residents and local businesses believe. Her comments on ignoring the consultation process are important:

“To do so would call into question the value of holding a consultation exercise and undermine the legitimacy of the scheme. So I am calling for the proposals for the King’s Road to be reviewed in the light of the objections and comments from local residents and organisations.”

We still await Zac Goldsmith’s position on the proposed station. We will continue to press his campaign to make their position clear.

TFL will need to consider their position carefully given these comments about the validity of the consultation process from the Deputy Chair of the London Assembly’s Transport Committee.
